Reviving your carpet – go beyond routine cleaning.

If your carpet is looking a little tired and worn down in places, don’t despair!

High traffic areas particularly hallways, doorways and around furniture especially walking around a bed can definitely take its toll on carpets. The pile starts to appear trampled and even the most expensive of carpets will eventually look matted and worn down over time.

Help is at hand though as there are a number of ways to refresh your carpet so it looks like almost new again. With a little effort and care, your carpet pile looking will be looking plush in no time.

Trampled Pile:

On high traffic areas, use a damp cloth and a steam iron. Sounds excessive? As long as no part of the hot iron directly touches the carpet fibers, this technique works wonders on down trodden carpets.

Firstly, start by putting a wet cloth over the top of the trampled pile. Then place a hot iron on top of the cloth and hold in place for a few seconds. By doing this, it will cause the carpet fibers to stand up again.

Remember on no account let the hot iron touch any part of the carpet, as it will immediately burn. Only place the iron on top of a wet cloth.

If you are treating a large area remember to keep wetting your cloth.

Furniture Dents:

Removing furniture dents is remarkably easy. Firstly move all your furniture out of the way to enable you to maneuver unhindered. Then place an ice cube on each of the dents and allow it to melt. Once the ice cub has melted, with the edge of a spoon or a small hard bristled brush, gentle scrub the pile back into place.

Prevention is better than cure

Once you have spent time and effort restoring your carpet to its former glory, there are a few ways to prevent further damage.

Regularly move your furniture.

By regularly moving your sofa just a couple of inches in any direction, it will allow the dents to repair naturally.

Install quality carpet.

Where possible, install high quality carpet as the dense pile will help prevent this kind of damage and it will better resist dents.

Use rugs in high traffic areas.

What a difference

Thank you so much for making such a difference to my oven and carpets.

The oven looks as though it has just been installed, is shining and gleaming and even the fan is whizzing around again. The carpets have come up really well, look so much cleaner and feel fresh and clean underfoot.

David worked solidly all day and kept us informed about what was happening. Importantly for us, his approach was both professional and friendly and we felt very comfortable having him in the house.

I have no hesitation in recommending his services.
